This crown services oak desk is stamped and dated from the 1960s and was likely made for the RAF base Staverton. This desk has very strong industrial style with the chunky metal handles and metal foot support. The desk is made from a combination of solid and veneered oak along with a vinyl inset top. The crown services made furniture that was used in the military and government departments, so mostly enjoying a commercial life rather than home one. This desk has five drawers with divided section in the top four. The desk has a very strong utilitarian design and feel that would make a wonderful statement in any home office.
The desk has been cleaned and rubbed back along with being refinished in a buffing wax. The desk shows fair signs of use with dents and scratches but this all adds to the character and charm of the desk. There are marks to the vinyl top and missing parts of the veneer on the inside panel and scratches and wear to the handles. The desk is really well built and is structurally sound, with all drawers running smoothly. Overall the desk is a 7 out or 10. The desk has a great Industrial charm and style and is a very appealing ex military item.
