A beautifully designed & crafted extending ‘Volany’ dining table designed by John Herbert for Younger. Younger furniture was produced in relatively low numbers so rarely come up especially this model in this condition. The table is made from solid frame and edging with a veneer insert. This table has two extending leaves that pull out allowing 6 to 8 people to sit around. This table dates from between 50s and 60s. This is a stunning minimalist styled table that is exceptionally made and will be an antique of the future.
Younger were renowned for their high quality workmanship and mainly retailed through the Department Store ‘Heals’.
The table has been thoroughly cleaned and rubbed back. Then coats of oil and wax polish has been used over the original finish to enhance and protect the wood. As you can see from the pictures the original finish has held up very well over the last 60 or so years, with the table being in stunning condition. There are no loose parts or any damage to the table and it’s a stunning example of high end english furniture from the mid century.
The condition is a very high 8.5 out of 10.
