This is an early example of mid century furniture. This is not like any unit we have had before. We are sure this is a made from a yew veneer and a very solid construction. The large cupboard is set on splayed mid Century legs which dates this item to around late 40s early 50s. Someone had previously hand painted the design on the doors in a blue and gold style paint. The paint job looks pretty old so must of been done around 70s to 80s. This sideboard has a very strong European feel and type of built along with painting. We don’t come across many cabinets in this proportion and will bundles of storage inside. Very nice character along with nice shape and size. The inside features two removable shelves and a pull out storage drawer. Someone has cut round holes in the back ( most likely for wires). An unusual cabinet that would look stunning in a vintage or contemporary styled home.
The sideboard has been cleaned down and refinished in a buffing waxes. This has helped enhance the original finish and give a deep shine to the yew wood. The cabinet does show signs of use and wear to the top and doors. sThis is all part of the charm and age of the item. This sideboard is free from damage and all doors work fine. The overall condition is 7.5 out of 10.
