This is a rare retro model high sideboard from the English brand of Austinsuite and dates to the middle of the mid century. They are a English brand that were known for their strongly danish influenced designed furniture throughout the mid century. We have not seen this particular model or anything similar before. The build quality is very high and it’s lined with a maple light wood interior which contrasts with the dark red veneers of the outside. This has a striking format with the grand sliding doors on top of sleek rosewood fronted drawers. This is a unusually proportioned sideboard as they are usually long and low and this is higher and narrower in length by comparison. This would certainly make a statement in anyone’s home and would make a fantastic home bar cocktail cabinet.
The sideboard has been cleaned and rubbed back then has been refinished with multiple coats of danish oil to restore the deep shine to the rosewood and teak veneers. This is a very well looked after and refinished item with very little damage or few signs of heavy use. The light interior inside shows some usage with ring marks and some light staining. The overall condition is a high 8 out of 10 and would make a stunning item to anyone’s collection.
