This mid century Beautility Sideboard with Cocktail Cabinet from the 1950s. Beautility is a English furniture manufacturer and was renowned for making sideboards and cocktail cabinets from pre war to the late mid century. The sideboard consists of 4 drawers, two on either side of the central pull down door which conceals the cocktail cabinet. The interior has a mirror back, a glass shelf and a striped glass bottom. The four drawers are dovetail constructed with mahogany linings and have angled drawer fronts. The two bi-fold concertina doors enclose cupboard spaces, the left side is fitted with a removable shelf. The whole cabinet is supported on a black lacquered stand with splayed wooden legs. The sideboard is made from tola wood veneer which is darker than teak but has beautiful plain smooth grain that contrast nicely to the brass handles.
The sideboard has been cleaned back. The unit has then been refinished in a darker buffing wax. This has enhanced the original finish and given a deep shine to the lovely smooth tola veneer. This is a exceptional example of a well looked after piece of mid century furniture. The cabinet shows minimal use and minimal marks and damage. There is no damage or major defects. The overall condition is a high 8.5 out of 10. This is a stunning sideboard that would make a perfect home bar or cocktail prep station.
